KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 34 mm, 16.77 g, 1 h), Mesembria, circa 150-125. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in inner left field, Corinthian helmet above MA; below throne, monogram of ΑΠ. Karayotov M45, 337. Price 1081. Well struck and beautifully toned. A few light scratches on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.

From a Swiss collection, privately purchased from J. Haering on 13 July 2017 and previously from a German collection, formed in the 1970s.
